DNS Flush

Sometimes a website moves servers and your Mac keeps using the old address, so the page just will not load while it works fine on your phone. DNS Flush clears the local DNS cache, the standard fix IT desks always tell you to do, in one click. It asks for your password because clearing the cache needs admin rights.

This one talks to macOS directly (ports, DNS, Keychain, the hosts file or hardware), so it runs from the download rather than in the browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Download & run

  1. Download & open
    Unzip and double-click DNSFlush.command.
  2. Approve
Enter your Mac password when prompted (clearing the cache needs admin).
  3. Reload
Refresh the page that would not load.
!
Runs the standard dscacheutil -flushcache and restarts mDNSResponder. Nothing is installed.
